A breathtakingly beautiful breed, with their flowing tails and manes, powerful facial features, and dramatic and elegant gaits, it is magical to be among them. Watching the Lusitano gallop is sublime.

THE EPITOME OF NOBILITY AND BEAUTY: A HISTORIC BREED

The Lusitano Pure Breed occupies a unique place in history. Lusitanos are millennia old and have carried knights, heroes, and even kings through the tumultuous times of the great crusades and wars, leaving an indelible mark in the annals of history. Even William the Conqueror admired these powerful, intelligent and talented horses.

The Lusitano has been bred for 7,000 years on the Iberian Peninsula (Portugal and Spain in modern times) and is the oldest riding horse in the world. The ancient Greek historian and philosopher Xenophon praises the Lusitano in one of his books: “Even gods and heroes appear on such horses, and men who know how to work well with them will look splendid.”

Lusitanos are closely related to Spanish PRE horses (Pura Raza EspaƱola) and were used to develop other popular breeds, such as Thoroughbreds, Friesians, and Lipizzaners. But nothing beats the breed characteristics of a purebred Lusitano.

AN INTELLIGENT MIND AND WILLING SPIRIT

The Lusitano is not just a horse; he is the living embodiment of intelligence, obedience, love, and loyalty. These qualities are not mere character traits but the essence of these majestic creatures, which makes them truly remarkable and elegant in their own way.

There is much to love about the Lusitano, known for its brilliant mind and willing spirit. The most incredible thing, however, is that the Lusitano possesses a unique level of sensitivity, a quality to be cherished. The Lusitano forms a deep bond with his owner when offered a high level of horsemanship.

A DANCE OF ELEGANCE AND GRACE

These horses showcase grace and elegance in abundance. Incredibly responsive, Lusitanos are exquisite to ride due to their well-positioned back and graceful movement.

They are captivating to watch in the dressage arena, exhibiting such graceful, fine and gentle movements. With the proper training and an experienced rider, the Lusitano will perform artistically from the most delicate aids and prompts.

Lusitanos are the sweetest and gentlest animals; they possess incredible movement and grace and are inspiring to be around.
